Charmouth, Dorset | 2 Bedrooms | Sleeps 4

In the heart of the West Dorset countryside yet only minutes from the beaches of the Jurassic coastline and Heritage Coast footpaths, Befferlands Cottage combines the best of both. Located amid the rolling hills of the Marshwood Vale – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – there are views of open farmland and plenty of walks along lanes, woods and riverside literally from the front door and across both West Dorset and East Devon. You can walk from the front door of the cottage to the beach in around 30 minutes. In the nearby village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, St Candida’s Church is the only church in England, other than Westminster Abbey, that retains the original medieval shrine and relics of the saint to whom it is dedicated.

Befferlands Cottage is a converted two-story barn which provides a wonderful and peaceful rural retreat for couples or a family. The well-appointed interior benefits from a very spacious sitting room with high vaulted ceilings which leads to an open plan fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The sitting room benefits from a huge picture window which allows light to flood in and the kitchen has the advantage of a stable door. There are two stylish bedrooms both of which benefit from their own bathrooms. A double with an ensuite bathroom with both bath and shower and a twin room with its own bathroom right next door, again with bath and shower. Both bedrooms are recently refurbished and have ample wardrobe space. The cottage has its own parking and a small private garden perfect for a barbeque.

Such a nice cottage, we loved staying there with the kids and a dog.  We had everything we needed.  Very beautiful location – we will definitely be back!

We loved our stay! Anna was an exceptional host and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay.  The house is immaculately clean and stocked with everything you need even a dishwasher and washing machine.  We loved that each bedroom has a private bathroom.  It’s so close to Charmouth and Lyme Regis, the perfect peaceful location, 10/10.

Wonderful cottage. So comfy and quiet, a home from home.  We all slept so well.  Great powerful shower.  Perfect for exploring the Jurassic Coast.  We love West Bay and Lyme Regis.  Thank you for all the extras you left us.

What a gem of a place, perfect base and location to explore the Jurassic Coast.  The barn was clean, airy and had a lovely feel about it, great communication from Anna and extremely welcoming.  Definitely a place to remember for return visits.

We have had a lovely couple of days!  Such a lovely family and a lovely home and their dog is also very well behaved.  Very accommodating with some little treats left for both us and our dogs on arrival.  Clean, smart and well stocked home.  Very close to Charmouth beach and Lyme Regis and perfect for a little get away.  We really look forward to coming back.

Fantastic few days in this lovely cottage.  The spacious living area, well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms have been thoughtfully furnished with everything you need.  Great to have 2 bathrooms and everywhere was spotlessly clean.  The little enclosed garden was a real bonus, especially as we were so blessed with the weather and managed to have drinks outside without having to keep the dog on a lead.  The cottage is in a quiet rural setting and well played for exploring this beautiful part of Dorset.  We enjoyed great walks along the stunning coast and visited local sports including Lyme Regis and West Bay.  Anna was the perfect host and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.  After a long drive the yummy treats for both human an four-legged guests were a lovely and very thoughtful touch!  All in all a great stay, we definitely hope to return.

We had a wonderful few days at Befferlands Cottage and felt very Covid safe as it was so clean.  The accommodation and facilities were excellent with lovely extra touches.  There’s a lovely 30 minute walk via footpaths from the cottage into Charmouth and on route we saw lots of butterflies, rabbits/hares and even a buzzard and a woodpecker. Perfect.

The barn conversion is perfect.  Four of us stayed and had tonnes of space.  The kitchen is perfectly appointed with everything you need, in fact the whole place had everything we needed! It’s super quiet too so deep sleeps were had by all.  35 minutes walk into Charmouth (gorgeous) or a quick drive to many other places. It was honestly faultless, and Anna was a great host with super speedy communications.

Great host and amazing accommodation.  Gorgeously done barn conversion that suited our family well.  Anna was brilliant and helpful, definitely a great experience even in giving extra tips of local area and running routes.  Would definitely stay here again next time.

We have had a lovely stay at Anna’s barn.  It is very comfortable and airy.  It has good living space with a country view and comfy beds.  Good bathrooms.  Lovely walks close by and short drive to seaside attractions of Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seatown.  There is a useful utility area for boots, shoes and dogs. Anna is on site for any queries and is helpful.  We would definitely stay again.

Just back from five days in this property.  It was perfect!  Spacious, immaculately clean, perfectly equipped and we loved the peaceful location.  We left the car behind altogether on two of the days and enjoyed walking across the fields to and from Charmouth, directly from the ground of the farm.  It was a peaceful oasis to return to at the end of each day.  Anna and Gerald are lovely hosts too.  A pint of milk in the fridge, tea and coffee supplies and home made cake were much appreciated on arrival.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and a great location for visiting Dorset and the Jurassic coast.  I would really recommend the accommodation – it was clean and well equipped.  Anna and family were great hosts, there is you need them (which we didn’t as everything was perfect).

We spent 3 gorgeous weeks at the barn with a small baby in tow – working from home for some of it and enjoying lots of trips to the beach and surrounding area. Anna and her family were so accommodating and helpful – and there were lots of lovely touches like fresh flowers and delicious flapjacks! The barn itself was perfect – very spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and a garden, which was great for having family visit during our stay. We were really lucky with the weather and we love the area. Thank you!

A really lovely and well equipped cottage.  As a family of five (inc. baby in a travel cot by special request) we had plenty of room with two good sized bedrooms, lots of living space and a real bonus of two bathrooms.  There were basic kitchen provisions when we arrived which made it feel very welcoming.  The cottage is in a very peaceful, rural location but also near a number of seaside towns.  We will be back!

The space was amazing, I loved the living area being upstairs so that I could enjoy the views. There was also an outside space which would be great in good weather and lots of walks directly from the property. There was a welcome of drinks, flowers and biscuits for guest & dog. It is so spacious, lovely and peaceful. The kitchen is very well equipped and the living area is very comfortable. Thanks for being so welcoming and flexible, I hope to visit again.

We had a fantastic stay here. It was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. It was the perfect place if you have small children as there’s plenty of space. There were also lovely little extras like fresh eggs from the farm and home-made biscuits waiting on our arrival. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful place located in the perfect spot to get away from it all. As well as a charming environment, we noticed how sparklingly clean it was. It was a home from home with every touch thought of. We loved the fresh eggs from the farm, milk in the fridge and homemade shortbread biscuits on arrival! Thank you for making us feel welcome.
